Past Benefit Concerts
mahler for the children of AIDS project and its mission are modeled after two successful humanitarian concerts, Beethoven's Ninth for South Asia for the survivors of the 2005 Pakistan earthquake and Requiem for Darfur for the victims of the ongoing conflict in Darfur.
Partners and beneficiaries in past concerts include: Doctors Without Borders, UNICEF, Refugees International, The National Council of Churches, and the American Jewish World Service. Both concerts were presented in Carnegie Hall, bringing together distinguished musicians from several leading international ensembles including: the New York Philharmonic, MET Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Boston Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony, the Emerson, American and Brentano String Quartets, and students, graduates and faculty of the Manhattan School of Music, The Julliard School and Curtis Institute.
The concerts received major global coverage in the New York Times, CNN International, NY1, Voice of America, and in other media in Africa, Europe, Asia, and the United States. Excerpts of the former concert were telecast by BBCs ASIA TODAY news program to hundreds of millions throughout Asia.
